Mending Hearts Pet Rescue is starting a new matchmaking program intended to help get more animals in need adopted. If you are looking to add a furry friend your family, and are willing to wait for the right match, we are here to help you search!
Our staff and volunteers have experience and resources that can aid in finding your ideal pet. To get started, complete the application below with as much detail as possible and one of our matchmakers will contact you for further details.
If your home is accepted into the program, we will keep an eye out for animals that match your preferences. Filling out the application is not a commitment, nor a guarantee, we will be able to find a match for you, but we will do our best to connect you with pets matching your preferences near and far!
PLEASE NOTE: This application is more in depth than our typical adoption application.

Frequently asked questions
How does this work?
As a rescue, we have connections with a wide network of selfless people that keep an eye out for pets in need. We work with other rescues, county shelters, and private individuals looking to re-home their pets, and sometimes there are homeless animals that are not easily accessible to the public. Our volunteers are willing to search and transport animals from distant locations if we can get them into the right home!
How long will the process take?
Some matches will come up the next day, some may take several weeks or more. Our goal is to help get homeless animals into homes. We will be committed to finding your match as soon as you are accepted!
What is the adoption cost?
Adoption fees are $200-$600 depending on breed, size, age, and health condition. You will be informed of the cost of your matched pet before committing.
What is included?
All adopted pets will be vaccinated, microchipped, sterilized, healthy, and include an adoption gift.
Once I accept a match, how long do I have to decide to adopt?
Once a pet is in your home, you have 7 days to decide whether they are a good match.
What if the pet does not work out?
If you find that an individual pet is not working out, due to other pets in the home, or any other reasons, we will work with you to find new placement. Being a foster-based rescue we will need to find another foster home or adopter in order to move them from your home. We ask for patience in this process!
Are the pets healthy?
Any pets that are taken in to our rescue will go through a vet screening to ensure their health. Some may have colds they picked up due to stress, some may have more severe health complications. Any history will be explained to the best of our knowledge, and we will work to get them healthy before completing any adoption.
Can I apply more than once?
If you are approved to participate in the Matchmaking program, you can adopt multiple pets. If you take in a pet that is not a good fit, as long as you work openly with rescue staff, we can put you back on the list to be considered for future matches.
